Friday Nights [Lloyd]

Lloyd was surprised he'd been able to concentrate at all during the game, especially enough to win it. He'd been constantly looking into the stands to catch a glimpse at Xavier. Once he'd been smiling like an idiot and staring for a moment too long - the ball had hit him straight on the head and knocked him down. A couple mild healing spells later, and he was back in the game, concussion gone.

Now he was just plain nervous with butterflies fluttering all over in his stomach. He had his gym bag slung on his arm - going straight to Xavier's house meant he had nowhere to drop it off before. He followed Xavier inside the house, but paused in the doorway. There was some voice in the back of his head that told him not to go in, something that told him of danger and bloodshed and traps. He ignored it and entered the house.

He set his gym bag down next to Xavier's bag and followed his example by taking off his own sneakers too. He looked up at his crush and blushed faintly at the thought of being alone in a bedroom with him. He mentally told himself to be cool. He'd hung out with past friends in their bedrooms before and it had never been awkward. Of course he hadn't had a crush on those people, but he had to try to make it as little awkward as possible. If Xavier wasn't into him the way he was into Xavier, then at the least they could hopefully be friends.

"Sure," he replied with a smile, running a hand through his somewhat wet hair. He'd been sweaty after the game and told Xavier to wait a minute then took a quick shower. His hair wasn't dripping, but it wasn't exactly dry. His muscles ached from the strain of the game, but he tried his best to hide that. Usually he'd flop onto his bed and fall asleep to his familiar asking how the game had gone - sports bored his familiar so he never attended any of the games.

Lloyd didn't like the thought of having to walk all the way back to his own house after this was done, but he didn't think he knew Xavier well enough to have the right to ask to stay the night. Besides, while he didn't have the courage to ask Xavier out on an official date, he was still hoping Xavier would ask him out. And he didn't want to seem pushy or clingy. And there was still that little voice in his head that warned him of danger.

Upstairs wasn't very good directions in Lloyd's opinion. He walked up the stairs and wasn't surprised to find a few rooms, none of which he knew for sure were Xavier's. He figured one had to be Xavier's brother - Caden? He believed he'd heard someone at school say Xavier's brother's name was that - and another had to belong to his parents, while of course there was also a bathroom there.

There was also another room, though. The door was closed, but was it locked? Now Lloyd wasn't the snooping type. But he had no clue which room to go to or if someone else lived in the house too. Xavier had said it was just them and his mom, but he hadn't exactly said who wasn't there.

He had the strong urge to just test the lock. He looked around but Xavier still wasn't there yet. He reached for the doorknob and his fingers just brushed it when he magic sparked, sending a jolt of pain up his arm. He drew in a hiss of breath and jerked his arm away. Cradling it, he backed up from the door. Alarm bells were going off in his head.

It was the same voice in his head that had told him going into this house was a bad idea. Either his subconscious didn't want him going in that room, or the doorknob was made out of something that didn't react well with his magic. Rubbing his arm and glaring at the door, he practically jumped when Xavier's voice suddenly sounded.

He was still absent-mindedly rubbing his arm when he turned around and took a couple steps toward Xavier, smiling now.

"Hey, I uh-" he gestured around him with his hands, "I don't know which room's yours." He smiled guiltily. His arm didn't hurt anymore - though his sore muscles still weren't happy about that jolt. It just felt weird, but that would pass, he knew.

"You have more rooms here than my place," he added with a smile. He lived in a two bedroom apartment with his dad and familiar - and he shared his room with his familiar. He knew both his dad and familiar would love to meet Xavier, whether they stayed friends or became more.
