I can't believe that father was right. It finally happened. I hoped that it wouldn't. Everyone couldn't wait for this day to come and I hoped it would never happen. It was inevitable. I knew that. I'm such a fool for thinking otherwise. I suppose I will have to take father's advise to heart and actually start doing this...nonsense.

I wish it would all go away. Why couldn't I stay fifteen forever? Guess that is impossible. Sixteen. I think I have the most frightening ability of them all. I wish it would all just fade away. But it won't. I must face reality, no matter how harsh.

Keeping this journal will help me keep my sanity. I hope. Who is to say. The colors are more like shadows that are trying to swallow their hosts whole. Auras. Souls. It doesn't matter. It's nothing more than a light, there to tell me the secrets of all. The thoughts of all. The feelings of all. The weaknesses of all. The strengths of all. To see the soul is to see the deepest part of another being.

So...why can't I see my own?

I got my familiar today. My mother and father seemed so happy about it. I don't know. It's just another person that I have to try not to hurt. Try not to stare at the demons that are trying to devour them. Or perhaps those demons are trying to devour me. Not sure yet.

I actually meet him too. Yes, my familiar is a boy. That might prove to be a problem, but that has yet to be determined. Mother knows of my interests, father doesn't. Best keep it that way for a while.

I wonder what this familiar of mine will be able to do. I've never really seen a familiar do anything. Granted, there aren't very many familiars roaming the house or D'Angelo Coven. Maybe that will change when my brother and sisters become old enough. Maybe this house will be breaking at the seams with familiars and all their wonders.

His aura was different then the ones I'm used to. It was stranger. Maybe because he wasn't exactly human or witch. I wonder if your species helps determine the color of your soul? So far I have only seen greens, blues, and oranges. His soul is red.

My sister got a kick out of my familiar's animal. I thought it was cute.

Due to my ranting, I forgot to mention. His name is Zach. I'm not sure if that is short for Zachery or Zachariah. Maybe it isn't short for anything. I guess I'll find out. He is a ferret! I wonder if he'll mind if I thought of him as my ferret? Oh well. We'll just keep that a secret for now.

The nightmares have started.

I can't believe it's been a year.

Every time I wake in a panic and cold sweat, I seem to find either a ferret or a boy next to me. He has his own room. Why do I find him with me? Maybe he can feel my night terrors.

I've tried numerous times to sleep without him, but the nightmares only return. I wonder if it's his healing powers that keep such things at bay. Or maybe it's just his presence. I can't say for sure.

I hope they go away. I am so tired.

What the hell am I talking about? I'm talking to a piece of paper. A notebook. You aren't going to tell anyone anything. Unless someone reads you. But that won't happen. This notebook holds everything. I have it hidden well. Perhaps this 'writing in a notebook everyday' thing is starting to make me go crazy.

I guess, it's best just to get this on paper and be done with it. I'll write it down and never look back at it again. I never look back at what I write in here anyway. This will be one hell of a biography once I die or get swallowed by the auras that haunt me.

I won't say it was an accident, or a mistake. I can't say we will ever speak of it again. I can say, I was pretty happy that no one else was around. I also don't know what the 'protocol' is when it comes to familiars and witches. Maybe I don't want to know.

I'm the one that started this, but I won't be the one to finish it. I'll leave it up to Zach. Like I said, we may never speak of it again. I don't know what the future holds. Unfortunately, that isn't my power. Nor did I stick around after the awkward silence to see what his soul would tell me. Not that I would be able to concentrate anyway. My mind was too far gone for me to see anything but the soft red aura that surrounded him.

Regardless...

A kiss is still a kiss, right?
